Bio

Mr. Nathan Belcher, from Gallatin, Tennessee, is the Director of Bands at Goodpasture Christian School. His responsibilities include 6th Grade Beginning Band, 7th/8th Grade Band, HS Wind Ensemble, HS Percussion Class, Music Appreciation, as well as leading the Marching Cougars. In his first year at Goodpasture, Mr. Belcher lead the Marching Cougars to the 2022 Division 1 Tennessee Marching Band State Championship. Mr. Belcher’s main mission as a music educator is to create generations of life-long music appreciators and to advance music in America.

 

Mr. Belcher graduated from Middle Tennessee State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. During his time at MTSU, he served as President of the Band of Blue, section leader in the Band of Blue and Wind Ensemble, and can be heard on multiple recordings with the MTSU Wind Ensemble. His primary professors include; Dr. David L. Loucky, Dr. Chris Combest, Dr. Christopher Dye, Prof. Craig Cornish, Dr. Reed Thomas and Dr. Dennis Hawkins.   

 

Mr. Belcher was awarded the “Dr. J Madison Dill Music Endowed Scholarship” and was recognized for his contributions to MTSU Bands. His professional affiliations include; National Association for Music Education, Tennessee Music Educators Association, Middle Tennessee Band and Orchestra Association, International Tuba Euphonium Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. 

 

Mr. Belcher enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoys watching or attending Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators games. Mr. Belcher is excited to be starting year 3 here at Goodpasture!
